I agree with you pastor. But what was the second revelation Chafer was talking about? I ma sorry -maybe I was late in finding your church and personal blog-but I did noe get it? Was it the distinction of the church from the Jews and the State?

Thanks for the prayers.

I don't really think the shepherding aspect of my gift will actually kick in until he shows me "my flock." With that, part of the reason for studying is shepherding because I want to equip people with the tools they need to study themselves and exercise their spiritual gifts. For the time being, I'm leading my family as best I can, and doing what I do with TM. Because until I am pastoring, I haven't been given charge to shepherd any group of believers other than my family :)

I'll try to do what you suggested, and see if that helps. At least I can keep the devotions on TM going seeing that chapter 2's outline is finished & ready for teaching.

I hear you here bro; and yet, I'm not surprised. You pushed a lot to get to this point in respect to reading the Word. But, it seems that you've left little time to rest in the mist of your journey. You seem to be experiencing a lull - which in the case of the energy you've expended and the life changes around you - is totally normal.

In terms of redefining consistency, I'd recommend small reading, in the AM when you know you can read. Not reading to study, but reading to get back in rhythm. Go at it for a few weeks before getting back into the realm of studying. Slowly get your mental and spiritual muscles back into the actions they know before pushing forward.

Beyond that, your heart for wanting to study the Word all day sounds less like a pastor and more like an academic ;) You might want to look into possibly getting into some classes (part-time, online) when things settle down a bit.

I'll definitely keep this in prayer bro; and encourage you to get back into that study (I was enjoying what you were sharing).

All the albums carry messages that require some listening to two maybe 5 times to get the message. I got it and from a music producers ear, this guy is right on keep it confusing and let the peoples ear bleed for the truth and hunger for the word be it out there or just right in front of you. Peace to all who enter here.

Crazy date for this post. I left it alone as it was posted on what would have been my dad's 61st birthday. I SMSed my mom and sis a happy birthday note and mentioned "what would dad look like at 61."

He and my mom were faithful to one another. Both learned a lot from their previous marriages, and I think those lessons served them well - especially how fun me and my sis were as kids. But they didn't part till death, and even then, parting is just a moment.

Thinking about these things now - a few days after and when I am a bit clearer in mind makes life a bit better. Just a bit. But, weighty thoughts all the same.

I hope that all married folks reading this post would find the strength to keep rocking it out. Because the testimony of that last part of your vows "till death do you part," means so much to those living on.

I have tattoos, but I got them out of rebellion before I made my confession to Christ & these new Christians are killing me. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost & God, 1 Cor 3:16-17 says that Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy which temple are you? Now that is the undisputed word of God futhermore that is the New testament, God is the same yesterday, today & forever. We need to stop taking from & adding to the word of God for us to live lifestyles that we think are pleasing to God & live the lifestyles that are pleasing to God. Oh yeah stop using his Grace as a crutch & God told Paul that his Grace was sufficient meaning you can live this life with my help not for us to do whatever we want cuz of his grace.....Look at like this if u knew someone was nice would take advantage of them....well thats exactly what we do to God, but he did say that he would not be mocked!

I like everyone's ideas and concerns!
I get it all the time! I myself have 7 tattoos and they are all Christ related!
Now when people come to me with, "Your body is a temple of God and shouldn't be marked!"
In Revelation, Jesus comes back with "King of kings and Lord of lords" marked on His thigh!
But if we wanted to go by the scripture, then we are also not meant to shave our faces or cut our hair!
So you cant take some outta context and some not!
It's food for our soul! God is grace and love, a tattoo aint gonna change the fact He loves us!
I believe if you think it's right for you, then go for it!
I've had over 10 people find Christ because of my tattoos! So if it works, then why not do it!
My tattoos down my arms are "Philippians 4v13" and "Romans 1v16"
So I'm all for you getting a 116 tat, as I'm not ashamed of the Gospel and I know God gives me all strength, so I represent that at all times and its also a great way to get people talking to you about God without even speaking a word!

God bless

Hi LaRosa,

I hope your family had a very Happy Holidays...

I would like to see a deeper topic of enduring or persevering as a Christian and perhaps a topic in suffering? So many times I've heard the topic of victory with prosperity...however, could you perhaps submit a podcast about victory in suffering?

Missions would be a topic i would be most interested to hear about...I've been seriously thinking about missions and evangelism...so i would love to hearing about what you're take is on mission or mercy ministry into dangerous countries...

Hey LaRosa, I just read this (about 6 weeks late) -- I had to laugh at your car example, because right after I got married I moved my wife up to Pittsburgh pulling an 8 foot U-Haul behind her little Honda Civic. It would *definitely* have been easier with an F-150.

It was early January, and I remember going up some steep, icy hill in Ohio with the pedal to the metal, and the car was slowing down from trying to pull all that weight. Kind of funny in retrospect, but I definitely wouldn't want to repeat the experience!

Hey man you're really on point in this post, and its sweet because even though I'm not married yet, my girlfriend and I are really learning more about becoming more selfless towards each other. Just reading this post has helped me realize that even when it feels like I'm "losin out" as you said as long as I acted selflessly then I'm really winning in the long run. Bless God

PS: I'm really interested in writing reviews for the site. How could I go about that?

You can still link verses in Logos 4 with OneNote 2010.

In Logos 4, open a bible and click the book icon in the top right of the window and make sure "copy location" is set to "URL".

Then when you are in a location you want to link to click Alt+CTRL+C - this copies the resource location as a URL.

Go into OneNote, select some text and hit CTRL+K and paste in the url. It is now a clickable link that opens Logos 4 for you.

It still won't highlight automatically, but it allows you to make jump points from OneNote to Logos (or any other app that supports hyperlinking).

Cheers

I'm also at Donnell.White@Fuller.edu...

Hey Brother LaRosa...how much did you pay for your Logos?...i know there are different prices, but i wanted to get the best price for my logos app. and I really want to purchase the bible software. (I have it on my iTouch too...It's great, but no downloadable files for it.

Did you get one of the most expensive ones? I am trying to decide if i want to go over $1000 to get the best logos app. I'm dying to buy, but I have to wait until January though.

Take care.

I actually found your site reviewing stephen the levite's "to die is gain." I began searshing for christian hip-hop--GOOD christian hip-hop that is. It is few and far between, but that's with everything. Since you are in school, I wanted to ask you, how are biblical texts dated? For example, how do they know Paul wrote 1Corinthians in A.D. 55-57? Thanks so much for all you share. Nicky

This may just cause more debate but what about henna... myself and some friends were talking about using henna tats on our arms to memorize scripture... three weeks and they're gone but the words been retained and so has the temple... it's like hanging a tapestry instead of painting the walls... then people could ask about your "tat" allowing you to connect with the world without actually being of the world... just curious what you guys thought.

It's aways a cool and freeing thing when you can just put aside the thoughts and opinions of others, and just live. I think its in that that Jesus really had life on his keychain - and not the other way around. Its hard to have that perspective, but also, its needed if we are going to stay mentally, physically, and/or spiritually healthy in this day and age. I commend ya bro for standing tall.

Sounds like your you are blessed by the Spirit of God:

“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t He do much more for you—you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Thanks for sharing. Something we all need to be mindful of as we gravitate towards the online resources of these highly revered pastors and ministries. In part your entry reminds me of an article "Porn and Paper Pastors" I read on the Pyromaniacs blog a few months ago. It touches on this topic from another angle. http://teampyro.blogspot.com/2009/04/porn-and-paper-pastors.html

I don't have a tattoo but Im on the side that states your choice is between you and God. What are your motives and are they in line with true ministry to yourself or others. If they truly are, fine, get one, but if you pray and find out that your motives are not, then don't. Also, lets put things in to context, In Leviticus 19:28 who was God talking to? He was talking to the Israelites and it was basically so they would not be like gentiles. Most Christians are saved gentiles and back in those times (Before Christianity) that would have only applied to the Israelites. In Leviticus CH 11 He also didn't want Israelites eating pork because it was unclean to the them. So for the people using the argument that our body is a temple and we should keep it clean to combat tattoos, I would ask "DO YOU EAT PORK AND/OR DO YOU THINK IT IS OK FOR CHRISTIANS TO EAT PORK"? The outward part of the temple is not greater than the inward and God told the "Israelites" NO PORK. Now is eating pork a sin to us Christians who are saved gentiles, absolutely not (unless you think its a sin to your self, and a sin to yourself is not necessarily a sin to someone else). So I am simply saying don't take things out of context, don't say you Christians CAN'T get tattoos but we CAN eat pork, and don't try to make something you think is a sin a sin for everyone else when it is not so in the bible. So when it is all said and done if you are debating on getting a tattoo it is between you and God. What are your truest motives for getting this tattoo? Are your motives in line with true ministry to yourself and others? Also, take into consideration where you worship. You have to honor the leadership that you are under and if your pastor doesn't want you to have a tattoo for whatever reason (ex. image purposes), then you have to honor that because he/she is your leader. If your job wants you to cut your hair or wear your hair a certain way, trim you beard, dress a certain way you will honor it or you will be fired. So in the same way you have to honor the leadership you are under at your church. I hope my post helped. God Bless you.

Cool. I like Wordpress too, which is why I use it for my blog. With my Trailblazin Ministries site, it came to the point where I needed a true CMS, and Wordpress just wouldn't do (nor Movable Type). After my second failed attempt with Joomla, Drupal seemed like the logical move.

Once I started playing with Drupal, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The hardest part was taking the time to figure out my site's structure. Then converting my Joomla theme to Drupal was the 2nd hardest step; but super easy once I figured it out. Right now, I have it setup exactly like I want and it's super easy to manage, especially now that my forum is 100% integrated with the site. The only drawback is that I can't use Windows Live Writer to publish to my site (because of some custom fields I'm using); other than that, it's working great for me and I'm glad I moved.

Yeah, I don't doubt the evangelistic component of any of the music that comes out in HHH. The thing is, I don't "need" the gospel in the sense that I need salvation, I'm already saved. So, even though it may be great for that person, as someone who's already a Christian and growing in my walk, I need some "grown man" hip-hop that's deeper and on a higher level, if that makes sense. I think so many artists are focused on reaching the lost that they forget the listeners who are already saved and need something a bit weightier.

Of course, there are some artists whose focus is the believer, and those will likely be the Christian hip-hop artists that I listen to from now on. As well as those that just do hip-hop & make good music. Right now, though, I'm still going to give my ears a rest and enjoy some other genres. Admittedly, I am listening to stuff at least once that's being reviewed on TM because as the gatekeeper, I need to know the content that's being covered.

I wouldn't go as far as to call them false Christians or false teachers, because only God knows... they might be believers, they might not be. I will say that I still don't agree with their teachings and feel that they're blatantly contradictory to what the Bible teaches in many areas. I wouldn't listen to them or recommend them to anyone; I'd defer to recommending someone more biblically sound in their teaching.

I can't speak about Ed Young because I can't say that I've ever heard him teach. I've heard Joseph Prince a few times as I was channel surfing; I never heard him say anything that I'd clearly disagree with, but I haven't heard enough of him to say one way or the other. Honestly, these days, there are only a handful of TV preachers that I'll listen to, including: John MacArthur, Charles Stanley, Tony Evans, and David Jeremiah. But even then, I rarely watch them.

Not to mention I have like 200 Christian hip-hop albums that just sit there doing nothing. Buying albums is literally pointless in this day and age EXCEPT that they do sound a lot better (if their bigger budget albums) then their digital counterparts.
