Down to the Wire

January 31st, 2005 LaRosa Johnson

Well, I called in my unemployment claim yesterday and they tell me that I only have two weeks of unemployment benefits left. Now, I’m officially down to the wire, and I’m doing whatever I can to get a job as soon as possible, as well as keeping my faith up to par.
Last week I had a job interview at my credit union and I think it went rather well; I’m now waiting to see whether they give me a call back telling me that I got the job. This job is right up my alley and the hours would be perfect considering. On the other hand, I have a job interview tomorrow to be a customer service representative for a cable company in a nearby town; I’m confident I can land this job, although it’s not what I want. If need be, I’ll humble myself and take it because being the man, I need to provide for my family.
Last but not least, there’s a web designer position that just opened up in the city where I used to work at. It just so happens that the job is through the same staffing agency through which I got hired last time. Needless to say, I submitted my resume, and I’m praying that I hear from them. I’m also hoping that this isn’t for the same company that laid me off because then I’d be upset. Why? Because I was told by the president that if business picks up again, I’d be the first person he calls, and I had just emailed him the other day to give him my new contact information.
Anyway, that’s what’s up! Send up a prayer for a brotha!
