Instant Classic
May 5th, 2009
Everything is an instant classic these days in Christian hip-hop, or at least that’s what reviewers, “hype men,” and promoters want you to believe. I’m not buying it. I just listened to one of the latest albums deemed an instant classic, and, in my opinion, it’s average at best; there wasn’t a single track that grabbed me or that was memorable.
Honestly, it’s been quite a while since I’ve heard anything that I would deem classic, but I guess that’s just me.
That’s all I have. Carry on.

talking about mark j?
I haven’t heard Mark J’s latest album yet… but I’d rather not say who it is because it doesn’t really matter.
lj.
Yeah I wouldnt say it either LJ! I totally agree with what you said but thats marketing for ya! In todays fast paced environment people dont have time to preview albums etc. so using words like “instant classic” might get some sales from people that have the money to spend but no time to preview and know what their buying. Marketing baby… marketing… lol “it’s average at best” I’ve been hearing alot of that lately. But I’ve also been hearing alot that is very close to mainstream production and spot on with bible values and soul winning too! Theres that love hate relationship again I guess.
